  WLAC 34 congratulates Steve Lopes on being named the VLAA Official of the Year at Centrefest on Saturday 19th July. Steve does a terrific job at region and state level, and still finds time to contribute on a weekly basis to our operations at Waverley. Well done Steve on a deserved and well-earned award.

Run-in with an Olympian

WAVERLEY Little Athletics Centre turned 40 this year and has epitomised the Olympic ethos of unity, inclusion and opportunity.

In the lead-up to this month's Beijing Olympics, the centre's 400 youngsters have been "inspired'' to follow their dream by senior Waverley athlete Madeleine Pape, who will make her Games' debut in the 800 metres.

Waverley Little Athletics president Matt Sturgess said the 24-year-old Olympian had taken time out in her preparation to coach and advise the youngsters.......

Next On Track Workshop - Sunday 17th Aug 2008

VLAA is running a On Track Workshop at Chelsea. The workshop is a great opportunity for interested parents and age group leaders to participate and learn about On Track.  Attached is a registration form for this course that needs to be submitted to the VLAA.

4th Aug 2008 - Shop at Ritchies and help raise fund for WLAC

Ritchies IGA is a national sponsor of Little Athletics. They also have a community benefits program through which they donate 1% of any purchase value to any registered community club via a pre-registered barcoded card. The spend can be at any store, and the donation is triggered by anyone presenting the card. There are Ritchies supermarkets at Mt Waverley, East Bentleigh, Wantirna, Berwick, Carrum Downs, Frankston, Narre Warren, Rosebud, Rowville and Ringwood to name some.
If you nominate Waverley Little Athletics at the counter or ask them for a card to use assigned to us, then 1% of your purchase total at Ritchies will be forwarded to us monthly - a great way to keep registration fees down
