2008 VLAA State relay Championships
Wet and windy conditions greeted WLAC's 12 qualifying teams and their entourages to Olympic Park on Sunday morning. Fortunately the weather improved as the day went on. As usual at State Champs, there were highs and lows throughout the day, but everyone competed, applauded and supported their team mates in true Waverley spirit. Congratulations to each of the teams, who gave their all, and thank you to the coaches and parents who assisted them in getting to the State Championships.

Two of our teams progressed through to the finals; The U11 Mixed 4 x 100 team of Scout Caulfield, Ellie Sanford, Konrad Debicki and Ned Hawkins finished in 6th place. The U9 - U12 Girls Mixed Age Medley team of Natasha Bannon (U10), Ella Squires (U9), Ellie Sanford (U11) and Ebony Sturgess (U12) brought home our only medal for the day, winning the Gold, while trimming 7 seconds from their time at the regional qualifiers.

Big thankyous are due to our Team Manager, Fiona Squires, in her first year in the role, and to Tammy Stephens who not only "showed the ropes" to Fiona, but coordinated the whole relays effort right from the start of the season. A job very well done!

Don't forget that entry forms and payment for the State Multi Championships and the Region T&F Championships (qualifier for State T&F Champs) are due in this Saturday, Dec 20th.

Congratulations to Amy Burren  - 10th Dec

Congratulations from all at WLAC to Amy Burren for her excellent performance in winning the gold medal in the U14 G 3000M walk at the Pacific Schools Games held in Canberra last week

Waverley Open Day A success - 30th Nov

A big "THANKS" to all competitors for helping make our Open Day another successful one :

A special thanks to the many Waverley parent volunteers who put in extra big efforts by taking on additional duty (all day in some cases).  ...and also the volunteers from other Centres that assisted (and offers of assistance)   A GREAT TEAM EFFORT :-)

Results are now available here BOYS   GIRLS ... and I hope to send out Achievement Certificates this week to "one point of contact" from each centre.  Please email me if you wish to be this person :-)  We hope that you all enjoyed the day. Please supply comments in order for us to continually endeavour to make improvements!  All feedback is welcome

Lindsay Harrison  [Relieved Open Day Co-ordinator :-)]

REGISTRATION PATCHES & BARCODING STICKERS

IGA Rego patches are “mandatory” at all Little Aths Centres throughout Victoria. Waverley’s policy is “no patch no results”. So if you forget your patch, just see the Admin ladies and they will give you a temporary one for the day or if you have lost it, a $5 fee for a new one is charged !

You will have noticed that most of your children have “bar coded stickers” on their patches now  However, if your child has not yet received this “sticker”, please see the admin people PRIOR to competition on Saturday and “get yours”. Please “LOOK AFTER THESE STICKERS” on your patch as they are difficult and expensive to replace at short notice !
