The Victorian Government has introduced the ‘Working with Children Act 2005’ which comes into effect on 1st July 2009. The WWC Check applies to adults who are engaged in volunteer roles involving children.
- Any parent who intends to enter their child in a Region or State event, do not require a WWC Check, as they will be required to be present and officiate on the day their child is participating.
- However, if they volunteer to be an Official, by nominating to the Region or the VLAA for State events, then they are required to have a WWC Check, as they could be officiating on the day when their child is not participating.
Therefore, these people fulfilling a nominated role at Region and State Little Athletics (including cross-country) need to complete a WWC Check (available at Post Offices).
It may be that some of you already have a current WWC Check. That's great! If you are planning to be a nominated official at Region or State events, please ensure that you update your WWC details to include Victorian Little Athletics - Waverley 34 on a Change of Personal Details Form.
Also, please refer to the WWC Check Information and Instructions for details on how to fill in the form.
