WAVERLEY OPEN DAY 2009
Waverley Little Athletic Centre hosted our 6th Annual Open Day last Sunday at Central reserve. The display of sensational weather, great competition and fun activities was had by all athletes and families. This year we had a record 387 athletes, Once again the friendly atmosphere, competitive spirit and sportsmanship was outstanding and great to see from all Centres. The "Rock wall, Jumping castle and Face painting were once again a great addition and thanks also to our own Olympic and World Championships 800m representative - Madeleine Pape - for attending and doing autographs and mingling with the kids. Congratulations to everyone who participated, we hope that you enjoyed competing with athletes from other Centres.
This year also saw the 3rd running of Centre Relays and we would like to thank the following Centres for their support - Knox, Essendon, Caulfield, Brighton, Chelsea, Doncaster and Keilor for joining the Waverley athletes who competed.
A huge thank you to all parents that completed their duties and those individuals who volunteered additional time to assist and "filled the gaps " during our Open Day ..... the combined contributions of so many people was awesome and provided yet another opportunity for Waverley to showcase what a great Open Day is all about. An extra special mention to the "Canteen/BBQ" helpers and Rebecca Bil (her child was sick and did not compete) whose tireless efforts were greatly appreciated.
